We have been working with a GP practice in Barnet to explore the redevelopment potential of their site, with the dual ambition of safeguarding local healthcare provision and supporting key workers with affordable housing.
The scheme looks to reprovide modern medical facilities alongside new residential accommodation specifically designed for NHS staff and other essential workers. This dual approach ensures the practice can continue to serve the community for decades to come, while also addressing the ongoing housing challenges faced by those working in frontline services.
Our design approach makes creative use of the site’s level changes to maximise the development footprint. This allows for the delivery of the highest possible number of residential units, without compromising the character of the surrounding area or the operational needs of the health centre.
We have guided the practice through pre-application discussions with the local authority and carried out detailed viability testing. This process has been crucial in balancing design aspirations with financial deliverability, ensuring the scheme is both practical and future-ready.
