The below ground piling works were completed to the North Terrace of Durham Castle earlier this week following the installation of the 27th and final pile by BRIMS Construction Limited/Aarsleff Ground Engineering Ltd. All ready for the concrete pile cap to be laid prior to excavation works commencing to reduce the external ground levels adjacent to the 12th Century Grade I Listed subterranean Norman Chapel to allow free air movement to dry out the original stone walls and thereby preserve the internal facades of the chapel.
