It is great to see another heritage/conservation project reaching completion, with the official handover of the Neville Hall taking place on Friday, 25th January 2021 for the Common Room.
Some of the highlights of the project for our team have been to see the successful negotiation of a tight city-centre location, skilful repair and restoration of the building’s stained glass windows, the refurbishment of the Wood Memorial Hall, Lecture Theatre and Arbitration Room as well as full remedial work to the buildings external façade which included the stone chimneys, roof and stonework.
This project has been an enjoyable one, not only for helping to preserve another landmark building but incorporating modern facilities into a new modern central core of facilities without detracting from a building’s originality. The core contains an installation of a new lift, staircase, toilets with upper-level offices. Upgraded heating system, mechanical and electrical refits all ensuring the building fulfils fire safety standards.
We look forward to seeing the building negotiate its next 100+ years as a centre for the development of young engineers.
