Sunken House, Northumberland

Sunken House, Northumberland

Sunken House

Sunken House – Designed to be environmentally sensitive and energy efficient.

A private client in Northumberland with a brief to create a unique sunken house. The house is designed to be environmentally sensitive and low energy with a south facing facade and fabric-first approach to the insulation of the structure.

The natural gradient of the land encouraged the concept so that terraces naturally form within the topography of the ground. A natural light well is created in the centre.
