Smelt House is a Gothic Victorian Grade II Listed House situated in Crook, Durham. The house was built in 1846 and sits within mature gardens of 2.5 acres.
HL was appointed to renovate and restore to a high standard the listed house while sympathetically embracing its character. Listed building permission was obtained to restore the east elevation with removal of render to exposé the original opening, repoint the stone and brick and re-introducing the windows into existing bricked-up windows to bring light into the house and create a beautiful façade to the building.
