The Work Place is an exciting new-build partnering development completed in July 2008.

Developed as a focal point for regional learning in response to the Governments 14 – 19 year old educational programme, the 2,250 m², two storey design draws together both educational and support services within a single location.

The Client’s vision for the building was a space to combine sensitive environmental design with a flexible learning space. The Ground Source heating / cooling with passive solar shading aims to minimise energy usage along with visual displays for the building energy management system providing user interaction. The choice of materials, the orientation, the scale, mass, size and form all contribute to the reduction in wasteful energy consumption. The open central spine offers exhibition space, informal meeting areas, and cafe as well as providing the key circulation route through the building.

The Scheme was awarded Construction Client of the year 2009.
