HL have been working with South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB), North West London ICB and North East London ICB in the review of their primary care estate and preparation of the Primary Care Network Estates Plans.
The initial phases of the of work required the surveying of 385 primary care sites across Lambeth, Lewisham, Camden, Islington and Ealing. The surveys reviewed, condition, accessibility, capacity, floor plan recording and sustainability.
Alongside the on-site physical surveying, HL met with each practice and PCN Clinical Director to understand the direction of the PCN and model the accommodation required to meet primary care demand and the growing workforce of the PCN projected to 2040 for each practice and PCN across each of the boroughs.
The plans compared available capacity against the demand identifying where / how and deficit could the met through a number of options and feasibility studies. They highlighted the challenge of accommodating additional staff roles and the push to deliver more services out of hospital within the existing primary care infrastructure and the opportunities presented through the creation of PCN hubs with necessary technology and digital infrastructure to support new ways of working.
HL prepared bespoke plans per PCN to reflect the individual needs and requirements of each to enable the ICBs to inform the strategic direction of their estate and support individual practices in managing and developing their properties.
