The school has a very fine tradition of arts and wanted to update its theatre and music departments.

The site provided the opportunity to enable the school to improve its linkages into the local community and build on commercial support.

The new facility includes a theatre for almost 300 with a full stage and orchestra pit designed for a high standard of acoustics and visual presentation. The design includes all connections for mobile television production units to “plug in”. The sound and lighting system is comparable to repertory theatre at the highest standard.

The centre also includes a classical music performance ensemble space designed for un-amplified voice and music.

The performance spaces are supported by mixing studios, a band room, peripatetic teaching areas as well as green rooms changing facilities and music and drama classrooms.
