Harris Boys Academy is a new build project and was completed August 2010.
Located on a 0.7 hectare inner city site the four storey academy is focused around an internal street agora.
The space creates a focus at ground level for the fusion of Craft, IT and Business Technologies including Hospitality and Catering. The upper levels consists of a full range of teaching curricula with Arts and Sciences to the top floor. On the first floor there is a learning and resource centre link to the sixth form suite and special educational provision whilst on the second floor there is a full Sports Hall.
Due to the external noise levels the building is totally sealed and achieves over 20% renewables and a 60% CO2 reduction by using a mixed mode passive energy scheme including ground source and wind technologies. The elevational design is a striking contemporary pavilion facing onto the landscape Park of Peckham Rye with glass solar fins and natural stone corner pieces.
