The building project and fit out took over an existing office, set over 5 floors, for conversion into departmental offices for the Estates, Finance, HR, Marketing, Legals and Governance and Student Service of Teesside University.
The project had completed initial feasibility within the Estate team and we took over the concept designs and space planning. Our role was to undertake the Architectural detailing, interior designs, graphic and signage strategy, space planning and furniture procurement.
The overall project was the creation of a modern, bright and flexible work environment within the existing Gazette Building at Teesside University. Parts of the building had a natural industrial edge which our interior designers worked with and enhanced. We worked with each of the individual departments to ensure their requirements were met and harmonised, this included the combination of the existing open plan floor plates and the addition of new cellular work areas to help create different work zones. Graphics and signage were designed by Howarth Litchfield to give a corporate feel for the departments. We liaised with specialist loose and fixed furniture suppliers on the procurement of all FFE in the building.
