Howarth Litchfield are delighted to announce that they have won a number of awards at this years Lord Mayor’s Design Awards.

Winning the Conservation Award for their Architectural work on The Boiler House at Newcastle University.  The Boiler House which is strategically located at the heart of Newcastle University’s historic campus, adjacent to the Student’s Union, Armstrong Building and Student Forum. Its proximity to the main facade of the Grade II listed Armstrong Building, lends to it being considered part of the historic setting of this building. The Boiler House was acknowledged as being ‘the finest in the kingdom’ when completed in 1923.

Howarth Litchfield worked with Newcastle University’s Estates Team to redevelop and reimagine the building and its surrounding landscape as an ‘indoor’ extension to compliment the Student Forum and be used as a high-quality events space for congregations’ receptions, musical performances, exhibitions and award ceremonies.
